Hola familias!
First of all, we want to say a big thank you again to all the parents who supported us during our Kinder concert preparation and of course for all the volunteers who have come to support us in the classroom and during our field trips. We missed the volunteer tea today as we were at Telus Spark but we hope you all know how much you are appreciated and how happy we are to have you in our classroom. It's been a busy month! Just an FYI that Alien In-line begins this Friday for the AM group and continues into the following week for both groups. If your child has their own equipment, it would be great if they could bring that in for these classes. AM: Friday June 1st Monday June 4th Wednesday June 6th PM: Monday June 4th Tuesday June 5th Wednesday June 6th Please note that there will be an email sent out shortly asking for volunteers on SIGN UP GENIUS to assist us with these classes. We will definitely need help with getting all the equipment on and off our little ones. Please remember to send your child to school with sunscreen on and bug spray if possible as we are enjoying snack and recess outside. Gracias, Sra. de Benito

Please ensure you have filled out, returned and payed the fees required for the upcoming fieldtrip. Gracias, Sra. de Benito Hola familias,
I'm sure many of you have heard students talking about the upcoming Kindergarten concert as we've started to practice at school. Please note that this concert will take place on Tuesday May 8th from 6:30 - 7:30pm. Students are very excited and everyone is welcome to attend! We are requesting extra volunteers for the next two weeks to help with creating props for the concert. An email should be sent out from administration with the link to sign-up genius if you'd like to help. There is another exciting activity happening in May as we will have our field trip to Telus Spark. Please fill out the forms and return to the school as soon as possible. We will also require volunteers for this event. Another email will be sent with a link to sign-u genius if you are interested in joining us. Gracias, Sra. de Benito What we’re learning:

Gracias, Sra. de Benito Thanks so much for coming to support student-led conferences!
It's so rewarding to observe your children teaching you about what we're doing in class and to see how excited they are to share this learning and this part of their life with you. Here are some photos from the last month during our Winter exploration unit. We embraced our cold Calgary weather and had a great time doing so. When we return we will be exploring Mexico as part of our collaborative school-wide initiative on Spanish-Speaking countries. This will be the focus of our upcoming Kindergarten concert as well. Hasta luego! I hope you have a restful and enjoyable break. What we’re learning:
- Estar – Yo estoy (I am) Tu estas (you are) El/Ella esta (he/she is) – temporary Examples: -Yo soy de Canada (I am Canadian), Yo soy un niño (I am a boy) -Yo estoy feliz (I am happy), Yo estoy en la escuela (I am in the school)

Notes: Send a flashlight with your child on December 21st for our reading party! We would also welcome healthy treats/paper plates/forks/napkins for our pajama day. Email me if you can send something at [email protected] so I can coordinate and ensure there are no duplicates. Send plastic yogurt/sour cream lids and newspaper for upcoming projects SHOW AND TELL: There is a new show & tell starting about unique family traditions and how they make your child feel special. This can showcase a Christmas tradition you have or another special holiday you celebrate, or maybe it's just a winter tradition like drinking hot chocolate for breakfast and going skating! Students are encouraged to bring in a photo, artifact, book, video, whatever they need to present their show and tell. Please encourage your child to prepare and follow these sentence prompts: My unique family tradition is... I like this tradition because... It makes me feel... Gracias! Sra. de Benito |
